Bright and early (or so it seemed after less than a good night’s sleep) we walked to the meet up point in Inverness for a mini bus tour of the Highlands.

First stop was Loch Ness but alas, no monster sightings, just calm beauty

We made another stop or two for bathroom breaks and to take in the scenery. I was feeling quite nauseous at this point with the lack of sleep and windy roads so we got a bottle of water at a little shop in a small little village.
One of the main highlights for the day was the Eilean Donan castle and the cherry on top was the bag piper as we left
There was a spontaneous stop for a “cow jam” because everyone loves Highland cows!
Took in the views at Sligachan

For lunch we stopped in the seaside town of Portree. I was not entirely satisfied with my choice of lunch which was a glob of smoked salmon on a few pieces of lettuce, a couple slivers of onions and one cherry tomato but that was probably my fault for not looking up what Assiette of Salmon was . Portree itself was cute and had that “by the sea” feel.
The Trotternish Peninsula was absolutely gorgeous

Our last stop was the Isle of Skye

By the time we got back to Inverness we were exhausted but managed to stop at Pizza Express for a ‘Sloppy Giuseppe’ and dough balls

I feel like I requested a Highland cow. 🤔
I love those views, especially the cliffs by the Ocean.
