After months of anticipation, many memes exchanged and screenshots of the countdown clock sent, my sister and I were finally off to explore a new country - Scotland!

The journey started off in Wichita, a layover in Chicago and then an 8 hour flight to London Heathrow where we missed our initial transfer to Glasgow. We landed on time, however, due to an alleged combination of reasons (first another plane was in our spot then there was some spilled sawdust that was needing to be cleaned up) we missed our connection to Glasgow. Thankfully the next flight was only 4 hours later.

Immediately upon landing in Glasgow we took a bus to the Queen Street train station and continued on our way to our first stay in Inverness.
It felt sooo good to be on public transportation again (which is basically nil in the Midwest). Not having to worry about traffic and just being able to take in all the views is *chef’s kiss*.
Upon arriving at Inverness we walked to Pitfaranne Guest House run by the friendly Malcom and Maggie.
The room was reasonably priced and very clean. I would definitely recommend!
We decided to hold off on sleep for a little longer and headed out to get dinner.
We decided to very gingerly dip into the haggis territory with ‘haggis bon bons’ and, well, I was kind of digging it! (Maybe the Aperol Spritz was helping…)
Finally after being up for over 30+ hours we tucked into our wee beds for the night.

I wouldn’t mind visiting Scotland or Ireland someday. Airport travel is always stressful to me. I remember having to really hurry in Heathrow to get to my flight. Cool looking castle.
