I have always been drawn to cemeteries. The quiet and peace, the reverence.
The forgotten.
I believe that we should remember.
It doesn't matter if these places are aged, or that the families of the residents are long gone now too. They deserve to be remembered.

Some find cemeteries disturbing or morbid, but I find them serene and beautiful, full of angles, stone, and memory. Perhaps it is an unpopular opinion, but I feel that cemeteries should house liveliness... life. Visitors holding moments of joy, a birthday toast, a quiet celebration, a way of honoring them with life, instead of only loss. A way of saying, ‘You’re still part of this world, too.’ It’s not strange; it’s deeply human.
I photograph cemeteries because they’re not lifeless to me. They’re full of stories, textures, traces of those who came before; there’s a sense of continuity.
When I photograph them, I try to let the quiet speak. They’re still, but they’re not empty.

HEy, I remember some of those cemeteries. Beautiful shots.
