On the Road with AOx5: AI Lied, I Listened

Hi there!

I asked ChatGPT for a route based on Kansas ghost towns and was given a laundry list. Apparently, KS is abandoned.

So I took a few locations in the same general vicinity, threw them into Google Maps, and street-viewed the areas. Fewer postcard moments than hoped. I chose the ones that seemed to have the greatest potential, because sometimes, the road leads - not justifies.

Fauxtographer and I set off. Me driving, which I think horrifies her.

Can anyone tell me wtf this is?

Disturbing. Disturbing is what it is.

Drury Dam? Drury Falls?

Drury Ruins

And the Drury church, that may or may not have been abandoned.

Gueda Springs.

Spoiler: we never found a "spring". We did find a celebration we hadn't been been invited to. I won't confirm nor deny hearing banjoes.

(If you're from Gueda and you're reading this, I kid! I kid! But you sure got a purdy mouth.)

Crab Creek Bridge.

Yes, I realize the sign says Stone Arch Bridge. Maybe I have no idea what I'm talking about. Anyway, that road went on forever and we finally had to turn back (the car thanked us).

What happened here?

Colors were pretty though!

The locals.

Log Cabin.

With featured outhouse.

And visitor signatures.

Where was this? I don't remember.

ree

But it was on the way to somewhere else of which I also don't remember. Honestly though, this was my favorite bridge.

Then we began to lose the light.

This photo says everything about the lengths of which we'll go to.

We'll likely do this again. Viewer discretion advised.
