And we're off!
After saying farewell to KitFox we're back on the road for Day 3 of this vacay.
Trampas, New Mexico

Personally, Trampas was one of my favorite stops during this trip, and I could have spent hours here just snapping photos. For being so small, there was so much to see.
From Trampas, the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge was next.
They had these machines with alarms able to be triggered in crisis situations.

Because suicides are common at famous bridges such as the Gorge.
And it was here that we saw the Suicide Awareness Bus..

That honestly, I think creeped Faux out a little. (Between you and me though, she's very brave. I used to work with her and I once remember her getting jump-scared in a hallway and screaming loudly enough that coworkers came to check on us.)
We also got to see these majestic puppers.
And this little guy.

And this...
thing in Tres Piedras. The Earthship Visitor Center. We drove by, turned around, drove back and got out of the car. After looking around a few minutes, we contemplated a tour of the inside, but honestly, I think we were both a little unnerved. So, obviously, we just left.
And went to Black Rock Hot Springs. Well, kinda. We tried. We could see it from above from, well, wherever we actually were.

I have more photos somewhere, but much like the Black Rock Hot Springs, I just don't know where they are. This was in the distance, though:
These kinda sum up the colors of New Mexico, in my opinion:
Brown, tan, and more shades of brown.
And this was seen on this excursion.

Which looks about as desolate New Mexico as you can probably get.
And honestly, this was what most of the drive looked like:

Not that I'm complaining, because I'm not. The scenery was beautiful.
Somewhere in here (or Day 2?) we visited Kit Carson Cemetery in Taos to pay our respects to The Three Brujas.

I had expected more stigmatic markers, but I guess covering graves with cement speaks for itself.
We stopped in Las Vegas (New Mexico, obvs) for dinner.
And returned to Tucumcari, where we stayed the night in a Best Western. I didn't take any pics of the hotel. I figure if you've seen one Best Western you've seen them all.
Stay tuned for the photographically short, yet long drive home, where Faux and I questioned our friendship (not really) and sanity (definitely).
