Greetings again, Fellow Shutterbugs!
This time I took a page from Fauxtographer's book and went to the Flint Hills.
I'll start off with my favorite photo of the day:

So, our journey begins last Sunday, when off we went in that general direction with the endpoint of Strong City, Kansas in mind. We left at 1:45p.m. and the weather was perfect (71°) although a little sun would have been nice, Kansas, thanks. We drove through Andover, Augusta, Eldorado, and into Cassoday before actually stopping for first photos.
Cassoday used to have have a "Prairie Chicken Capital of the World" sign, but I haven't been through in years and alas, I couldn't find it.
Next was Matfield Green, and I have to tell you all, I'm ready to load up and move. I honestly can't tell you what it was about Matfield Green, but I absolutely adored it. We drove by the PrairyArt Path (more than once, if truth be told) without realizing it until we were on our way home and the light was fading. Stuck in a pin in that one.
I don't know what this building was - so if you do, leave me a comment below.
Cottonwood Falls and the Chase County Courthouse were next.
And then, Cottonwood Falls main drag.
It took us (way too long) to find Chase Lake Falls, but here it is!
Strong City was next, and last, on our route.
I love trains. I mean, really. I gravitate toward most things industrial, and the older and grittier the better. Someday I'm traveling across the country by train. I've always thought this sounded so idyllic.
On the way home we took a slightly different route and ended up snapping a cemetery in Bazaar, Kansas. And you all know how much I love my cemeteries!
The American flags and the overcast clouds made this location absolutely elegant.
These are also from the Bazaar area.
We returned home at 7:45p.m. and I'm already ready to go on another short day trip. Something about loading up my camera and hitting the road is just.. “Wish You Were Here” perfection.
Don't ask me what routes these were - the S.O. was driving and that's a good thing, because lord only knows where we'd wind up if it were me (LOOK! SQUIRREL!!) I have the direction sense of a hamster. (Although, if you do want to know, leave me a comment and I'll figure it out.)
As always, my Peer Pixel Pathfinders: until next time—get out there, be safe, snap first and ask questions later!
