Arizona: Passing and Staying — On the Road

Updated: 4 days ago

Hello, hello! Long time no blog!

We took a 6-day (January 1st-6th) trip to Arizona this week. It was my first time! Last year we went to New Mexico; this time we went through NM to Arizona.

Relive the trip with me now.

Places I Would Have Stopped, Had I Been Driving

Day 1: On the Road

Day one on the road took us through Oklahoma, Texas, and into Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Arizona, Stopped

Day 1: Albuquerque New Mexico

I guess everything really is bigger in Texas.

Look at this creepy (presumably) abandoned little house! Did my horror junkie ass go inside?

Nope, nope, nope.

The first night we stayed in The Clyde Hotel. Fancy, fancy.

(Unfortunately) not related to Bonnie & Clyde, The Clyde Hotel was named for Mr. Clyde Tingley (born in 1882, London, Ohio) and his wife, Ms. Carrie Wooster (born in 1877, Bowling Green, Ohio).

Mr. Tingley had quite a busy career as Alderman on the Albuquerque City Council, election to City Commission, Chairman of City Commission (equivalent of Mayor), Albuquerque Superintendent of the New Mexico State Highway Department, delegate to the 1928, 1932, and 1936 Democratic National Conventions, Governor (with 2nd term), and again Chairman of City Commission before passing away and being laid to rest in Albuquerque.

Very nice hotel, with a nice little bar.

See you soon for Day 2!

The Clyde looks like a swanky place. Oh, you should have went into the building.
